We are Phil and Norma Heaton and we have retired/taken career break from employment. Phil was a Management Consultant and Norma is a university lecturer – not much chance of picking up odd jobs on our travels with those skill sets, then. Our two wonderful daughters (aren’t everyone’s daughters wonderful?) are making their way in the world and the climate in Northern Ireland – our home from 1990 to 2009 – is frankly awful, and the prospect of spending the early years of post-employment there was not something we looked forward to. We have family and many dear friends in NI and one of our aims is to provide opportunities to spend time together in the sun and warmer climes.
In addition, it’s a big world and there’s so much to see. For us there’s little that is better than sunsets and sunrises at sea, the contentment from well set sails and the boat bounding along, and the thrill of arriving in and exploring new places.
We were taught very early in sailing that a boat is never “going to” somewhere, only “going towards” - we hope to share both our “going towards” and our “being there”.
So, our motto is Carpe Diem, or … Fish of the Day.
